So far my job search has yielded two results. One: it is difficult to get people to pay you for writing when your prior experience includes an unrelated major and an interblag. They will, however, pay me by the page to turn pages of babelfish style gibberish into cohesive english.
However, on monday i swing by the Caucas Academic Center to see if they're willing to employ me for 700 bucks for my first month, and more money subsequently, pay my rent and utilities for me, and provide me with an actual for serious english text book with pictures AND words. I'll be wanting to get the details, but if it works out it'd be a great starting point and give me the free time to do work on the side. With a bit of elbow grease, i should be able to scrounge up a grand a month, roughly twice the china pay.
Before my extended family finishes off that ulcer, I haven't burned any bridges yet. My ticket back to china is still valid. I haven't quit yet. Nothing too dramatic. The government is stable, and the gnarliest thing going on these days is the goddamn ice.
Kate got here fine and then had a birthday. I kind of like this house better when there are all four of the residents here. The various neuroses tend to bounce off one another, and it makes for a much less exciting situation. Sometime this weekend I've got to sit the house down and figure out if i should be apartment hunting or if they'd prefer their rent goes down.
So, not much to report otherwise. Though my head is so damn congested i can feel it above my temples and i guess i have a whole weekend to burn through that. I should see if i can learn any more russian.
This is getting into stream of consciousness territory. I promise a proper update soon, srsly. With pictures and everything.
