I preface this post by declaring that, as always, I am not making this up.
So, the response to my little music idea has been overwhelmingly positive (3 people, 1 by proxy), which is enough to get the ball rolling. So, I says to myself, I should pick up an instrument. Luckily, my Chinese Tutor is happy to help. She knows a guy in a band, makes some calls, and long story short I can buy a decent Guitar for 1000 RMB and a decent keyboard for about 2000. Seeing as how I have a really nice keyboard at home (thanks mom + dad i got your package by the way thanks for the comfort food and books and hat and magazines!!! ^_^) I figure, what the hell, I might as well get good at the damn thing while i'm out here.
So, this is the funny part. Zhu Ting is makin' calls, and she figures out the guitar thing. I'm like sweet but, really, i was more looking for a keyboard (for the reason above) and she's like oh i know this guy in a band. But first she wants me to clarify something, which kind of keyboard do I want? I tell her electric, and she says yeah but do I want the regular kind of the kind you hold like this?
No joke. She wanted to know if I wanted a Keytar. To my horror she explained I would probably have to go to Beijing for such a thing. Not that I seriously want to purchase a Keytar, but I seriously am thinking about spending my hard earned money on an 80's throwback. I mean, c'mon. Freezepop's cover of The Final Countdown is still etched in my brain as the pinnacle of music. I'd need more hair gel to pull it off, but anyways.
So, tommorow i'm taking the number 14 bus to Wen Yi Lu station to try and find the music store. there's a slim chance there will be a keytar there, glistening like the sun. Anyways, I'm not buying tommorow. Just checking prices.
Well, its almost 1 am. I'll finish this tommorow.

dude, don't do the keytar. i will have to smite you for your dirty hipster ways, and you don't want that.
however, justin timberlake recently showed in his HBO concert special that he is masterful in several instruments, including but not limited to, the keytar.
get dance moves like JT, THEN pick up a douchey 80's instrument.
